Aaron Judge has now gone without a home run for six straight games, the third longest drought of his 60 home run season.
With nine games to go, Boomer, Gio, and Jerry wondered. Could Judge improbably fall short of the American League record after hitting his 60th home run on Sept. 20?
“Imagine if he doesn’t do it, he strikes out in the last at-bat of the regular season, and they pan over to the Maris family and they’re just laughing their asses off?” Gio laughed.
Jerry provided a reminder of how unprecedented that would be for Judge, given the pace he has been on all season.
“There’s no doubt that it’s possible that he doesn’t, but he would have to go - right now it’s 26 plate appearances without a home run - they have nine games left,” Jerry said. “On average, four plate appearances, he would have to go almost 60 plate appearances.”
Boomer simply said how many would react if Judge’s “drought” continued, and he finished with 60 home runs.
“That would be crazy,” Boomer said.
