As the Yankees fall further and further down the depths of the Wild Card standings, Boomer and Gio wonder when there will come a time that ownership decides to make major changes.
Could one of those changes be moving on from Aaron Boone at the end of the season?
Gio still doesn’t think Boone has managed himself out of a job, and likely never will as long as Brian Cashman is at the helm.
“I feel like every night, there is something new he is saying that are making Yankee fans even more pissed off,” Gio said of Boone.
“I think there’s a good chance, still [that Boone stays]…Brian Cashman is to Hal what Aaron Boone is to Brian Cashman. They just don’t want to get rid of one another.”
Boomer isn’t sure who would be gone if the season doesn’t turn around, but somebody will have to be a scapegoat.
“They’re gonna want somebody…if it stays this way, it’s gonna cost somebody their job,” Boomer said. “The owner’s not leaving, the general manager isn’t leaving, so that leaves somebody else.”
