Aaron Boone was the topic on The Morning Show on Tuesday, after the Yankee manager was ejected during another viral tirade that included Boone mocking home plate umpire Laz Diaz.
Boone has become a polarizing figure in Yankees Universe, but Boomer and Jerry agree that he doesn’t deserve the amount of criticism that fans throw his way.
“These are the cards Aaron Boone has been dealt, and have had to deal with,” Jerry said. “This is not a good baseball team as currently constructed.
“What do you want him to do that he doesn’t do? Everyone bashes the guy for being a terrible manger. What do you want him to do otherwise? I see a guy who backs his players, I think has command of the locker room, and deals with the players he’s given.”
Boomer agrees, and says the blame should be more on the front office for putting together a faulty and injury-prone roster, leaving Boone to try and make the most of what he’s been given.
“They have a problem at left field, third base, they didn’t really do anything about either one,” Boomer said. “This is going to be a unique offseason for the Yankees.”
