The Red Sox tore up the basepaths against the Yankees on Sunday night, stealing a franchise record nine bases in the series finale at Fenway, toying with starter Marcus Stroman and catcher Jose Trevino.
For Boomer, he wonders if the Yanks rivals just gave the rest of the league a major flaw to expose the rest of the way.
“Is this a blueprint? Is this a blueprint spot?” Boomer said. “They’ve laid out the blueprint on how to beat the Yankees…and with the Orioles coming to town tomorrow…that’s a big series.”
Trevino has one of the worst pop times in baseball and one of the weakest arms in terms of velocity on throws to second base, while holding runners hasn’t been Stroman’s strong suit this season. the mix was a disastrous one on Sunday, and while the rest of the league could take note, Gio says the Yankees did as well, and will work to address it.
“They’re gonna have to correct it,” Gio said. “I think people are onto them.”
