Boomer doesn't see Juan Soto missing Dodgers series: 'Make him a DH. He can hit'
Juan Soto left Thursday’s game with forearm discomfort, an injury he said he had been dealing with for at least a week, and will now get imaging done on Friday.
As Yankee fans panic and wait impatiently for the results, Boomer and Gio are hoping for, and expecting, the best news, so much so that they hope to still see him in the lineup Friday night to open a widely-anticipated series with the Dodgers.
“Make him a DH,” Boomer said. “You don’t have to put him on the field. He can hit. The Dodgers are in town. He’s not missing this series.
“My forearm was killing me out of pretty much any training camp I was a part of…every single year, my forearm was killing me.”
For Boomer, the forearm discomfort never resulted in a bigger injury, and it loosened up as the season wore on. Soto and Aaron Boone didn’t sound concerned about the injury, but a similar sequence of events unfolded with Jasson Dominguez last year, and he wound up needing Tommy John surgery. Boomer and Gio don’t believe this will follow that disastrous outcome.
“Missing this Dodger series would suck,” Gio said. “I don’t think that he will.”
