Boomer: Yankees 'cakewalked' into World Series, haven't faced foe like Dodgers yet

Boomer picked the Yankees to go to the World Series, and maintained that declaration for months before the postseason started.

Now, the Bombers are indeed headed to the Fall Classic, and Boomer says the path there couldn’t have been much easier to get there.

“The Yankees got a cakewalk into the World Series,” Boomer said. “They didn’t have to play great teams.”

The Yanks played two AL Central teams, a division they owned during the regular season, and they certainly took care of business, losing only two games en route to their first pennant in 15 years. Boomer says it’s not a knock on the Yanks, but it also means that the Dodgers will be a level up in the World Series, to say the least.

“They took out the Guardians four games to one. That’s a cakewalk,” Boomer said. “I’m not taking anything away from them. They should be where they are. But they haven’t faced a team like this team.

“They combined the most consistent offense with the most consistent bullpen.”

If the Yanks are to win their first title in 15 years, Boomer says they will have to clean up their baserunning to start, as their margin for error will be much smaller against a star-studded Los Angeles team.

“The Yanks have great players,” Boomer said. “But they’re a flawed team in so many different ways.”
