On Monday, Boomer declared that the Yankees needed to win 16 or 17 games in their 22-game stretch that they began last night, and New York certainly started off on the right foot, taking the series opener in Toronto against a dangerous Blue Jays team.
But Boomer says the Yanks shouldn’t be satisfied unless they return to the States with a series victory having made an AL East statement.
“Winning 10 in a row is a great thing, and beating your division rival in a first game of this import series is important,” Boomer said during Tuesday’s show. “But they have to win this series. Like we talk about with the Mets, just win your series. That’s the most important aspect to all of us.”
Boomer also had to apologize to Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who picked up another two hits on Monday to raise his batting average to .314, not quite the black hole Boomer said he was after is slow start to the season.
“Isiah Kiner-Falefa, OK, I apologize,” Boomer said. “I was wrong.”
Boomer also shouted out the many other aspects of the Yankees machine that is currently humming at the moment, riding a 10-game winning streak into Tuesday night’s game.
“They’ve done it with a little bit of everything,” Boomer said. “They’ve got great pitching. Starting pitching has been good, their bullpen has been lights out, Aaron Judge has been good, Gleyber Torres had his night, Stanton’s right in the middle of it.”
