Gio has been with several Yankee fans in criticizing Brian Cashman in recent years, and was ready for the Yankees to move on.
But Cashman is here to stay, and after swinging a deal for Juan Soto, Gio says Cashman should be praised for this move, and he doesn’t want to hear any Yankee fan complaining about what they had to give up.
“Sure, Michael King and Kyle Higashioka are guys we know…but it’s not like they gave up a tremendous amount of assets,” Gio said. “This was a big, big power move that everyone has to love on the surface by Brian Cashman.”
The cost for Soto was King, Higashioka, Randy Vasquez, Jhony Brito, and Drew Thorpe, which Gio says is not much for a generational superstar, regardless if he is a rental for now or not.
“For all the Cashman haters out there, and I was one of them, you have to love this deal,” Gio said. “What they pulled off was great.”
