BT: Aaron Judge drop 'most unforgivable defensive play' in Yankees history

BT and Sal opened Thursday’s show by sounding off on the nightmare first inning in game five, which doomed the Yankees’ chances of forcing a game six in Los Angeles.

“They did what they’ve done all year long, and they finally paid for it on the biggest stage, in maybe the most embarrassing way possible,” Sal said.

“We thought they avoided embarrassment by not getting swept.
We were wrong. They got embarrassed in game five.”

BT was even more livid after watching the mistake-filled inning that will go down as one of the most disastrous in World Series history, sounding off on the ugly frame that included two errors and a mental gaffe by Gerrit Cole, who didn’t cover first on what could have been an inning-ending groundout with the Yankees still up 5-0.

“I think you can make the case that it was the most painful 25 minutes in my New York sporting lifetime. Absolutely sickening,” BT said.

“It was just a complete, unmitigated circus. It was as egregious, pathetic, and unexpected…I’m sitting there saying, ‘There’s no way. What is this, Feb. 27 and they’re playing a split-squad game in Tampa?’”

But the bulk of BT’s frustration was geared towards Aaron Judge, who dropped a flare in center field that started the nightmare inning for what was his first error of the entire season.

“This is the World Series! How the hell do you drop a popup?” BT said.

“I think that is the absolute most unforgivable defensive play in the history of the Yankees…it has to be said. Aaron Judge will never be looked at the same. You dropped a popup in the World Series that basically cost your team the game.”
