After Aaron Judge smashed his 50th home run on Monday night, Brandon Tierney raised the case for Judge’s 2022 campaign to be considered among the best a Yankee has ever had.
Once Judge hit No. 51 a night later, BT upped the stakes.
“You can make the case that not only is this without a doubt the absolute best season in the vaunted history of the New York Yankees - that to me is beyond reproach - to take it three steps further…you can make the case that nobody in baseball history has had the influence that this beast has had for the Yankees this year,” BT said.
“This is absolutely the best season in the history of the Yankees, that a Yankee has ever had.”
Not only is BT convinced Judge is having the best season ever in the history of the most successful franchise in sports, but he believes no Yankee team has ever relied more on a player than the 2022 Bombers are with Judge.
“There has been a million amazing seasons. Before we even start bouncing around…you have to understand, this season, the Yankees have three regulars with an OPS below .700, four if you count Gallo, who played every day for some maddening reason,” BT said. “And by the way, Torres is a bad week away from going below .700.”
“This guy has destroyed baseball with basically nothing around him. Nothing…DiMaggio had Bill Dickey, Ruth had Gehrig, Mantle had Yogi, Reggie had Nettles and Munson, prime Mattingly had Rickey at the age of 26 and Dave Winfield, and Jeter, who we love, but let’s face it, he was handed the greatest circumstances in maybe the history of the Yankees. Who does Aaron Judge go out on the field with every night? He basically goes out on the field with a bunch of scrubs. To me, it is not hard at all to feel comfortable making the statement that nobody in the history of the Yankees has done this.”
