The World Series kicks off on Friday night, and with it, the pressure turns up on Aaron Judge, at least in the eyes of Brandon Tierney.
As the Yankee captain and superstar gets set for his first Fall Classic, BT says Judge’s legacy in pinstripes may very well be on the line.
“If the Yankees win and Judge delivers big, he’s all-time legendary status,” BT said. “But if the Yankees lose and Judge bombs, he will never be forgiven, unless he wins eventually. He has to do it.
“That’s very different from being that legendary Yankee...there is one Yankee who gets an eternal pass for not winning a World Series, and that’s Donnie.”
But BT says Don Mattingly is in a league of his own because the team around him was mainly awful during his illustrious career, and in his lone playoff series, he was a machine. For Judge, his playoff numbers have been well below his otherworldly regular season production, and BT says it’s time for him to lead the Yanks to a title and be revered forever. If the Yanks lose and Judge flops, BT worries that Judge will never be appreciated like a Yankee great.
“There’s no guarantee that they ever get back,” BT said. “If you want to be a Reggie, or even an A-Rod at this point...I don’t care what anyone says. This is the World Series...and this is the greatest baseball player we’ve ever seen.
“This year, it is right in front of Aaron Judge, and he absolutely has to deliver.”
