BT: 'Absolute lunacy' that some fans didn't think Yankees should retaliate against Orioles

The Yankees seemed to decide to retaliate against the Orioles on Wednesday night, as Victor Gonzalez beaned Gunnar Henderson in the seventh inning after Aaron Judge was plunked on the hand the night before.

The HBP to Henderson resulted in a costly run in an eventual 7-6 loss for the Yanks in 10 innings, leading some fans to criticize the decision to get payback by putting Henderson on base. But BT praised the move, declaring that any fan objecting to it is simply missing the mark.

“This is how a rivalry starts,” BT said. “This had to be done. I didn’t understand all the people saying that the Yankees shouldn’t retaliate. You’re both chasing the same thing, your best player got absolutely drilled. Torres got drilled…the guy you wanted to play didn’t play, and you’re not supposed to do anything about it? It’s absolute lunacy that people thought the Yankees shouldn’t do anything.

“The Yankees had seven innings to do something about this with their offense and did nothing. They did nothing before Stanton got loose.”

BT understands that the HBP led to a run, but he believes the game could have been won in several other situations, and the loss can’t be blamed on hitting Henderson, a move BT says had to be done to show that the Yankees have their captain’s back.

“It cost them a run,” BT said. “But I wouldn’t say it cost them the game.”
