Gleyber Torres made another costly out on the bases on Tuesday night, betting caught between third and home to make the final out of the seventh inning with Aaron Judge on deck and the go-ahead run on second base.
Aaron Judge said the mistake was one that “can’t happen,” and BT was happy to hear the Yankee captain speak out on the costly error, because he is fed up with Torres’ mistakes.
“Yeah, he’s talented,” BT said. “But he’s not a winning player, his head is always up his behind in the field and on the bases, and he’s too streaky in the box.
“He’s going to do something like this when it matters.”
Sal is tired of seeing Torres cost the Yankees outs on the bases, as Tuesday’s mistake was the sixth time he was out going for home, tied for the league lead. At this point, Sal feels like it is a foregone conclusion that Torres’ lack of awareness on the bases and in the field is going to cost the Yankees dearly come October.
“You can bet on it. Set your watch to it,” Sal said. “It happens every freaking time. He is the dumbest baseball player - and this is not hyperbolic - Gleyber Torres consistently makes the stupidest mistakes on a baseball field that I have ever seen…he has the lowest baseball IQ that I have ever seen in my entire life, especially when you compare it to the talent he has.
“It’s gonna happen in the postseason, and it’s gonna cost the Yankees.”
