BT is high on the Yankees heading into 2024, despite some concerning injuries, and doesn’t see, even in a potential worst-case scenario, the Bombers missing the playoffs for a second straight season.
But Sal believes, if a few things go sideways, that the lights will once again be out at Yankee Stadium come October. If that happens, BT says it will be a catastrophe unlike any we’ve seen in the franchise’s long history.
“Brian Cashman, they better boot his ass out of here,” BT said. “Hal should hide for a year. Boone…he’s gotta go. Soto is probably gonna leave.
“If they don’t make the playoffs, which I don’t see happening under any circumstance, it is the biggest failure in Yankee history. I really believe that.”
Why does Sal feel like that is a possibility? That lingering injury bug that seems to have bit the Yankees in one way or another since 2019.
“It starts with Gerrit Cole…Cole is hurt,” Sal said. “He’s going to miss two months. It’s next to worst-case scenario…also, Judge was mid-spring beat up. How is that going to look in June?”
