The Yankees just pulled off one of their best wins of the season, but BT isn’t convinced that Josh Donaldson’s walk-off grand slam will bring the team back to what it was earlier in the season.
”I still don’t trust their fight,” BT said. “I love to get on the air and say that I do, but I don’t. Why would I? You can’t that quickly.
“Now I’m going to need some evidence that this month-plus stretch of wretched, uninspired, impotent, lifeless baseball is the anomaly, and not the good start.”
The Yanks were pulling off comeback wins like Wednesday night with regularity earlier in the season, and BT doesn’t think one wild win means that the vibes for the season are right back to May and June levels.
“Which is the anomaly? The Yankees who were drawing comparisons to ’98, which was moronic, or this six-week malaise that had us all on the edge?” BT asked. “I don’t know, I think it’s somewhere in between.
“Big home run, much needed, and maybe a springboard, but how do I get on the air…and say everything has changed? I can’t.”
