BT has never hid his criticisms of Brian Cashman, but while many Yankee fans were ripping the general manager for his comments at Tuesday’s GM Meetings, BT praised him.
“The fact that Brian Cashman was feisty, and came out so resolute in his convictions…I like it,” BT said. “People are clowning the guy, and I’m sitting here saying ‘Finally, I’m seeing a pulse from the New York Yankees.’
“This version of Brian Cashman is a version I like a whole hell of a lot better…there was almost a holier-than-though attitude…there was a confidence and an arrogance. This year, I love the fact that he’s uncomfortable. That’s the first step towards legitimate change.”
BT still doesn’t want Cashman as the GM, but he is seemingly here to stay, so if he can find a positive, it is that Cashman is starting to seem uncomfortable with the criticism coming his way, and maybe that will result in a long look in the mirror.
“I feel, for the first time, that Cashman feels as if he is a little alone, that he doesn’t feel like he has the full backing of Hal Steinbrenner and the Yankee family,” BT said. “He’s out there like a pit bull coming out there, and if anyone moves, he’s gonna bite you…finally, there’s a pulse.”
