Old Timers’ Day is a longstanding, fan favorite Yankees tradition, but Brandon Tierney says it’s time to get it back to its roots, or do away with it entirely.
“Yankees need to bag Old Timers’ Day,” BT said during Friday’s show. “They either need to bag it or make it the way they used to.”
BT wants to see some more household names at the event, which was announced in a press release on Friday along with names of who will be in attendance later this month.
“Jesse Barfield? He was an awful Yankee,” BT said. “Homer Bush? He was a pinch runner.
“Where is Brosius? Where is Posada? Where is A-Rod? Invite the guy! Where is Pettitte? Where is Clemens? What the hell is going on?”
The event isn’t what it used to be to BT, and he doesn’t see a reason to watch unless things drastically change.
“I have loved Old Timers’ Day my entire life,” BT said. “The Yogis, The Mickeys…what made Old Timers’ Day so special is that it was special. Now it’s just diluted. What are we doing?
“This was always a special day. this seems like a watered-down thing that I have zero interest in watching. Sorry.”
