As Gerrit Cole prepares to go into an MRI tube to exam his pitching elbow, BT is campaigning for the Yanks to sign Trevor Bauer.
“Trevor Bauer’s people should have already been contacted,” BT said. “Doing nothing is not an option. Not in a year where it’s all in.”
BT anticipates such a signing creating some negative PR backlash given Bauer’s sexual assault accusations, but he says the former Cy Young winner has not been convicted, and wouldn’t be the first polarizing figure that the Yankees have signed.
“You’ve had guys on the team that were drug abusers and, sadly, domestic abusers,” BT said. “Don’t start playing priest now…society is gonna scream about it on social media, who cares? Ignore them. It’s gone, and they take somebody else as the next target.”
If it isn’t Bauer, BT says the Yankees need to do something big, including going back to the Blake Snell well.
“You have to circle back, and you have to make sure that it’s worst case, you have a few Band-Aids to piece together a season,” BT said. “Otherwise, this will be the most colossal flop in the history of the Yankees.”
