BT: Yankees avoided embarrassment, and now path is there to make history, starting with Gerrit Cole

The Yankees avoided a World Series disaster with a blowout win in game four, assuring that they would not be the first team swept in the Fall Classic since 2012.

For BT, that victory on Tuesday night at least avoided the Yankees’ first trip to the World Series in 15 years being remembered as a disaster.

“It would have completely invalidated the season,” BT said. “I would have never looked back on this season fondly if they had gotten swept.”

Now, with one win in the bag, BT says there is a path laid out for the Yankees to make history, and it starts with Gerrit Cole on the mound in game five.

“You saw a little piece of the Yankee machine that you hadn’t seen for a while, and that is the bottom of the lineup,” BT said of the game four breakout, which saw Anthony Volpe blast a grand slam and Austin Wells crank a home run and a double.

“Right now, based on what happened last night and where we are, there is a visible path to not only get this back to LA, but to maybe mess around and win. But I’m just talking about tonight, and the Yankees will win tonight.”

BT understands that the odds are still severely stacked against the Yanks, but if there was a way to make it happen, “this is probably the best script you can muster up.”

Sal isn’t so hopeful for the Bombers.

“There’s a long way to go. It’s 3-1. I think they avoided embarrassment,” Sal said. “Tonight, it gets real. If they win, then the pressure shifts back to the Dodgers. But I don’t think they win tonight.”
