BT is bracing for Aaron Boone to get heat from Yankee fans as soon as the team hits a bump this season, but he says that heat would be off the mark.
“You’re gonna start hearing people scream for Aaron Boone’s job, which is idiotic,” BT said. “I understand why you’re gonna hear that noise. His contract is up, bench coach Brad Ausmus has major league experience, Joe Girardi…is back in the YES booth, so he’s there in case he needs to be called down.
“All of the noise, I’m gonna ignore it…the Yankees; best path this year to a World Series is with Boone as the manager.”
BT says Boone deserves more credit for the job he’s done as Yankee manager, and the team falling short is more on the shoulder of Brian Cashman than the manager. So, the fans need to give Boone a chance with a roster not containing as many question marks.
“Aaron Boone is somebody who has been very much on the receiving end of the wrong criticism,” BT said. “He’s never had a left fielder.
He’s never really had a catcher, if you think about it…he never really had a third baseman…I’m not saying Aaron Boone is perfect, but for all the slings and arrows that he takes, he’s held it together.
“I believe in Boone.”
