BT is all in on the Yankees in 2024, and one of the reasons is his belief that the upcoming season will be a lot different for Carlos Rodon than his nightmarish debut season in pinstripes.
“I definitely believe Rodon bounces back, and that’s the difference,” BT said. “You sit here and talk about Carlos Rodon like he’s either a 39-year-old, Jamie Moyer hanging on by a thread, or a 20-year-old kid that’s done nothing. This guy is filthy.”
Rodon was signed to a $162 million deal last offseason, on the heels of a 2022 season where he was one of the best in baseball. But injuries, feuds with fans, and most notably, dreadful performance, spoiled his Bronx introduction. BT believes a full offseason in his new home, and hopefully a healthy spring, will prove to be the difference.
“His transition was awful…the optics were horrendous, I’m not defending the guy,” BT said. “But it also started with circumstances that set him up to not even be remotely competitive. When you have a back issue the first week or spring training, you’re just never you.
“You’re sleeping on this guy. When Rodon comes out and throws gems, you better hide.”
