Aaron Hicks heard nothing but loud boos at Yankee Stadium on Monday, another hitless night for the outfielder who has been struggling or battling injury for much of the past four seasons, and BT says it’s time for the Yankees to show him some mercy.
“There comes a point where you gotta stop kicking a man while he’s down,” BT said. “It’s not right, it’s not productive, it’s not entertaining.
“We all took our shots at Hicks. It’s over. He’s mentally shot. He has to go. that’s obvious.”
Not only is Hicks not helping the team on the field, but BT says the fan response to Hicks can affect the clubhouse, and of course Hicks himself, who needs a change of scenery. The Yankees should make that happen, regardless if they have to eat some of his seven-year, $70 million deal.
“He has to go not just because he is no longer a productive player…he’s gotta be removed because his mere presence emits anger from the crowd,” BT said. “They detest him. I think it’s slanted on the wrong side of personal. Don’t get me wrong, he’s been awful and has shown a lack of effort at times…but I’m also not here to take shots just to take shots. The Yankees truly need to eat the money and do right by Hicks, and more importantly, do right by their team. He just can’t be here anymore.”
