According to a WEEI report, the Yankees and Red Sox discussed a Gleyber Torres trade, and Alex Verdugo came up in talks in terms of a return coming back to New York.

Many Yankee fans scoffed at the idea of trading away their second best offensive player last year to their hated rival, but BT is completely on board.

“I think almost every Yankee fan would hate it, and they’re wrong,” BT said. “Yankee fans, you gotta stop tripping all over yourselves and stop overstating what Gleyber Torres is. You’re not re-signing him. The Yankees are not doing that. Understand that. He will be gone. Number two, this notion that you can’t trade him to the Boston Red Sox, stop it…whatever, he hits .320 against the Yankees and wins a game at Fenway, big damn deal. You get over it.

“Verdugo is a very highly rated defenseman. He’s very good with his glove, and he’s a gamer. He’s kind of like a Swisher…he’s a throwback, a grinder.”

BT would be all over this trade for the Yankees, as he has maintained that the Bombers need to move on from Torres, who has too many mental gaffes in the field and on the bases that overshadow his offensive production. But, it would rely on the Yanks making another big move that BT has been clamoring for.

“If you make this trade, you have some sort of configuration…Verdugo, Judge, [Juan] Soto,” BT said. “This is all hinged on that the Yankees must get Soto…you let Dominguez heal as a designated hitter, and when Verdugo walks the next year - which Torres will do anyway - then you put Dominguez back in the outfield, probably in center, Soto in left, and Judge in right.

“I want to know why…if it helps you, which it clearly does as I laid out, why would the Yankees not make this trade?”
