C-Mac: Aaron Judge, Yankees offense becoming concerning as playoffs near

The Yankees walked it off in extra innings for the second night in a row, this time riding a Juan Soto single to a victory of the Red Sox in 10 innings in Thursday’s series opener.

But the Yanks managed just one run through nine innings against Boston, as they were blanked after Gleyber Torres’ leadoff home run until Soto’s base hit up the middle to win the game.

For C-Mac, the team’s lack of offense of late, particularly from Aaron Judge, is becoming a big concern with October approaching.

“Judge is ice cold right now...he’s not making the same kind of contact on the same pitches he had been making, and here we are again with concerns about the Yankee offense,” C-Mac said. “The offense is still cold, and it’s what scares me every single year. That’s what this season will come down to.”

Judge has made some hard contact of late, just not with the same elevation he has been used to in what could end as another MVP season. So, as the captain labors through the longest home run drought of his career, and nearly the rest of the offense (aside from Torres) slumps around him, C-Mac can’t help but have concerns that another offensive flop could doom another playoff run.

“As we get ready for the postseason, what does this team look like? The same kind of team that has failed time and time again with their offense,” C-Mac said. “Over the last 6-7 games, they’ve had one game where the offense has broken out.

“Terrified, even with Juan Soto, that this offense can figure out a way to score runs.”
