C-Mac: 'Already feels like Juan Soto is a lifetime Yankee,' but this is still a business

Juan Soto clubbed his first home run at Yankee Stadium as a member of the Yanks on Monday night, and was showered with love on his way to the outfield to start the next inning.

It’s hard not to dream about what it means for the long-term future of Soto in the Bronx, but trying to stay in the moment, C-Mac is relishing in how much Soto seems to enjoy being a Yankee in 2024.

“He looks so happy,” C-Mac said. “He’s embraced the stadium and this crowd already, and the stadium has done the same.

“He’s signing autographs in between at-bats on the field. He’s running out to the field, putting his hands up, and I don’t know if the Yankees are playing into it or not, but the roll call is louder than I’ve ever heard it.”

Still, while it has been a magical ride just weeks into the season, C-Mac understands that money will talk, regardless of how much Soto is loving life in pinstripes.

“He talked today about the team already feels like a family,” C-Mac said. “It feels already that Juan Soto is a lifetime Yankee. But I don’t want to get too excited, but ultimately, this is a business.

“I am excited for this Yankees season. There’s nothing wrong with getting hyped up about that. But I can’t get hyped up with things I can’t control in business.”
