C-Mac still loves Cashman, but can't get behind the GM still talking about being cheated in 2017

Chris McMonigle is THE biggest Brian Cashman stan we know, and will defend the Yankees GM over just about anything…but it seems like we’ve found out where the ‘just about’ line is.

“Someone sent me this from Brian Cashman, and it seems to be getting love from all the guys who are excited about the prospect of Cashman owning some haters and cashing in some receipts,” C-Mac said. “Believe me, I am the Cashman shill, and have defended this guy at every single turn. I did say that it was probably best to move on from him last year, because I felt like it was just turning in the wrong way, but I was certainly more than happy and more than fine with the idea of him staying, and I've been defending him left and right to anybody who will listen…but I don’t know how I see this.”

The statement in question came from Cashman on MLB Network with Chris Russo, and when he was asked about it being 15 years since the last pennant, the GM said, “I hate the 15-year thing because it completely forgets that some other organization cheated us when we were all the way in the end…I don’t think it accurately reflects history.”

Still salty about the Astros? Sorry, Cash, but the shill isn’t buying.

“I know all you guys are sending it to me thinking I'm gonna be like, ‘woo hoo, that’s right, tell ‘em Cash!’ But don’t bother with that,” Chris said. “We all know they cheated, and I get it that it’s time for him to settle scores and have some fun, but you’re back in the World Series. You put this team together. I know it's been 15 years, but talk about how good you've been during that time period. Even if you want to talk about injuries or other things, talk about something else other than we got screwed in 2017. It’s cheap, it’s low-hanging fruit, it’s the worst excuse.”

The Yankees had a 3-2 lead going back to Houston for Game 6, and stealing pitches or not, they scored one run in Game 6 and were shut out in Game 7 – impossible to win a game when you do the latter, and really, REALLY hard with the former.

“The reason the Yankees didn't win is because they couldn't hit, the same reason they always don't win when they don't win. And if they don't win the World Series, I suspect that will be the reason, too,” Chris said. “I love you Brian, and I'm thrilled with you right now; you put together a World Series champion and you’re back on track, but don't give me ‘the Astros cheated us,’ please. You’ve got enough right now, just give it to us straight. The World Series starts Friday, 15 years don’t matter.”

Especially since the opponent is the team the Astros beat in that 2017 World Series.

“The Dodgers have been cheated just as badly in the World Series, and I don’t hear them complaining,” Chris said. “I know they've been to the World Series since and had won one since, but I can’t get behind reinforcing 2017 and how it's not really a 15-year gap because in we were cheated. That one I can’t behind, Cash.”
