C-Mac’s concern about Aaron Judge’s abs issue that kept him out of the Yankees’ spring training lineup for a week was minimal, much like BT’s.
But, his concern for Judge’s health on a long-term basis is through the roof, as he believes the Yankees’ oft-injured superstar will be dealing with IL stints on an annual basis for the rest of his career.
“It’s always something. Even If a lot of it has been fluky stuff,” C-Mac said. “I’m gonna invoke a name that Yankee fans don’t want to hear: Jacoby Ellsbury was injured all the time too, and it was broken ankle sliding into second base. Injury prone doesn’t just mean you’re prone to soft tissue damage, pull a calf muscle, pull this muscle.”
Judge missed extended time last season after crashing into the outfield wall in Dodger Stadium and hurting his toe, and the 2022 campaign has been the outlier in which he didn’t miss a large chunk of games. Judge’s ability when on the field is undeniable, but C-Mac worries that keeping Judge on the field will prove to be a massive challenge on a yearly basis.
“There is something about his frame, the level of intensity he plays the game with,” C-Mac said. “There’s just something with him where I am concerned that this will be an every year thing, like it is with Stanton.”
