C-Mac convinced Juan Soto 'not going anywhere' after reaction to Yankees victory

Juan Soto was all kinds up pumped up in right field after throwing out the would-be game-tying run at the plate in the bottom of the ninth to preserve an Opening Day win for the Yankees, and cap a memorable debut for the new Bronx superstar.

For C-Mac, Soto’s elation was enough to give him comfort about Soto’s future, both in the short and long term.

“The enthusiasm, how happy Juan Soto is, this guy is not going anywhere,” C-Mac said. “Let me just tell you something right now. He’s not going anywhere. Look at this guy. He could not be more excited to have won that game. He’s not going anywhere.

“The Yankees will pay him just enough, and he will be here. Mark my words.”

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Soto’s future, as the pending free agent is expected to bring in a massive payday this offseason, unless the Yanks can get him to sign an extension before the end of the season. That is a conversation for another day, as in the here and now, Soto has given the Yankees a completely different feel already.

“Juan Soto is a Yankee,” C-Mac said. “And one player can make a difference.”
