C-Mac: Giancarlo Stanton has become 'albatross around the neck' of the Yankees

C-Mac believes the Yankees are stuck with Giancarlo Stanton, and they will likely have to find a way to win around him in the years to come.

After watching Stanton bounce into two double plays on Tuesday night, including one that took a long time to develop, C-Mac was ready to voice his frustrations about the oft-injured slugger.

“It pains me to say this because I’ve been a Stanton defender…he’s been their best postseason performer,” C-Mac said. “But there is no way around it, he is absolutely an albatross around their neck right now. That double play, it’s amazing he wasn’t already standing on first base taking his equipment off by the time that ball got to first base. He doesn’t run because he’s afraid to get hurt.

“I don’t know what this owner is gonna be prepared to do…but stop talking about trading him. There is no way to trade him. You’d have to eat 90 cents on the dollar, and even then, who is trading for a broken down player who is hitting .191?”

So, while C-Mac believes Stanton needs to be moved, he doesn’t believe it will happen, and doesn’t see there being any takers for a struggling 33-year-old who can’t stay healthy for a full season.

“He’s gonna be on the team,” C-Mac said. “But his role has to be diminished.”
