C-Mac goes off on Yankees not being able to cash in with runners on
The Yankees are in danger of dropping three of four to the Rays in their first series out of the All-Star break, as frustrations continued on Sunday when the Yankees loaded the bases with one out twice in as many innings, and failed to score a single run.
C-Mac, who has long been lamenting the team’s inability to cash in on their scoring chances, opened Monday morning’s show by sounding off on the Yankees’ feebly bats when it’s time to break a game open.
“This Yankee team is infuriating to watch,” C-Mac said. “I’ve been trying to tell myself that this team can be fixed, and this team has just been in a rut…I was with Aaron Boone that I did see something in that Baltimore series.
“Even Juan Soto gets caught up in the Yankee ineptitude of scoring with runners in scoring position and getting a runner in from third with less than two outs.”
Soto had a 3-0 count with the bases juiced and one out, and smoked a hard grounder that turned into an inning-ending double play. The Yanks lost 6-4, with those two bases-loaded rallies likely being the difference in the game, and C-Mac is getting tired of seeing the same old story play out.
“This isn’t just this year or last year, or the last couple of years,” C-Mac said. “I have to watch a Yankeeography to see them get a runner in from third. It’s absolutely mind-numbing.”
