After watching Brian Cashman’s press conference on Thursday, C-Mac is convinced that Hal Steinbrenner is the driving force behind the Yankees’ newfound dedication to going all in on the 2024 season.
“Here he is, forcing - and you can listen to it - I’m starting to believe the reason this is all happening, and the reason we feel different now as Yankee fans…it’s because Hal Steinbrenner is making us feel that way,” C-Mac said. “I’m fully starting to believe that Hal Steinbrenner is the driving force.
“I’m starting to really get the feeling that Brian Cashman and the baseball people within this organization…I’m not sure they love this deal. I’m not sure they wouldn’t have waited to see what happens, and see if they could have played hardball to get [Michael] King out of this deal.”
C-Mac has always pushed back on the idea that Steinbrenner doesn’t spend like his father, and just like he pushed the Aaron Judge deal over the finish line last winter, C-Mac says Steinbrenner is leading the charge to get the Yankees back to prominence.
“I think you saw this owner step up and say ‘This is the guy we are targeting. This is the offseason we are targeting, and we are going all in,’” C-Mac said. “He sensed what we sensed. And we needed that.”
