The Yankees were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday with a loss to the Diamondbacks, the expected landmark that makes the 2023 season the worst that C-Mac has ever endured as a Yankee fan, in what was his 31st season of regularly following the team.
“The season is now over. It is a colossal failure,” C-Mac said. “It’s the worst season in my lifetime. I have never experienced a worse season. I vaguely remember before ’93, but ’93 was the first year I really remember following the team.
“As a real Yankee fan, this is the worst it’s ever been. They were a miserable team all year. So many things need to change.”
Aaron Judge told reporters that a lot needed to be changed after Sunday’s loss, and C-Mac believes Judge will have a strong voice in where the organization goes from here, though that will mean Aaron Boone isn’t going anywhere, given Judge’s consistent backing of the Yankee manager.
“You can bet your bottom dollar those ideas are going to be heard,” C-Mac said. “Make no mistake, the manager is staying. Even if the owner wanted to fire the manager, he is not going to fire him if Aaron Judge feels this strongly about him.”
