C-Mac admits that the Yankees letting Blake Snell go to the Giants means that the team isn’t all in on 2024, but it doesn’t mean that the fanbase should be revolting.
Sure, the Yanks weren’t willing to pay 110 percent of Snell’s salary toward the luxury tax, but it doesn’t mean the Yankees don’t have a track record of spending big dollars.
“They did go out and pay a certain pitcher $162 million last year, that now, everyone considers a disaster,” C-Mac said, noting the Carlos Rodon contract. “‘Oh, if only they didn’t go out and give that absolute bum $162 million, maybe they’d be in better position to sign this pitcher that there are no concerns about!’
“The idea that ‘the Yankees can’t win, another disastrous year’…it annoys me.”
Not adding Snell hurts, especially with Cole on the shelf for months, but once Cole returns, the rotation may not need a Snell, especially if Rodon is pitching like he has been so far this spring.
“That rotation, with Gerrit Cole, is as good as any other,” C-Mac said. “We just have to be honest with ourselves and realistic.
“The Yankees are not all in. It doesn’t mean they can’t win the World Series.”
