C-Mac tries to not put too much stock into spring training stats, but after Juan Soto belted his third spring training home run on Sunday, he couldn’t help himself.
“I know it’s spring…I lived in a world where Greg Bird was the greatest spring training player of all time,” C-Mac said. “But Juan Soto is a beast. Have you seen him? He’s now 6-for-9 with three home runs in spring. He is going to have a monster season.”
Initially, C-Mac was ready to enjoy the 2024 season with the acceptance that Soto could only be in pinstripes for one season. But after just a handful of spring training games, the joy has become too much. C-Mac needs Soto to be a Yankee for life.
“The Yankees need to sign him,” C-Mac said. “Juan Soto needs to be in my life for the next 12-13 years. It needs to happen. I’m not sure I can function if he doesn’t.”
