C-Mac throws cold water on recent Juan Soto contract extension optimism: 'No shot'
Yankee fans were buzzing on Thursday after Hal Steinbrenner appeared on Jack Curry’s “Yankees News and Views” podcast and opened the door to discussing a possible contract extension with Juan Soto during the season, and agent Scott Boras subsequently expressing a similar openness to the idea.
But C-Mac shot down that optimism during Friday morning’s show, declaring that a contract extension during the season is not happening.
“A lot of Yankee fans seem to think that this could be the beginning of negotiations, and just maybe, you could see Soto sign an extension,” C-Mac said. “Let me just tell you something right now: nothing had changed. There is no shot, no shot that Juan Soto signs an extension with the Yankees this year. None. He’s going to free agency. You would have to be out of your mind not to.
“You only get to do this once.”
