Amid reports that the Astros could look to trade Alex Bregman before next season, C-Mac wondered if the Yankees should be in on the star third baseman, and if Yankee fans would be able to stomach such a move.

“Ultimately, we want good hitters. It would be nice if they were left handed, but we want good hitters,” C-Mac said. “The Yankees don’t have enough good hitters…I’m not passing on Alex Bregman because he doesn’t happen to be left handed.

“I don’t know if those teams can make a trade, but I don’t see why not. They’re not division rivals.”

Bregman enjoyed another solid season in 2023, posting an .804 OPS with 26 home runs, while missing just one game all year. The two-time All-Star is a free agent after next season, and C-Mac says trading for Bregman would mean parting with Gleyber Torres, and while bringing in a face of the Astros feels gross, it would be hard to turn down a proven playoff performer and consistent productive bat.

“I have to admit, there’s something about it that feels icky,” C-Mac said. “I don’t know, is there anyone you wouldn’t trade for in the guise of getting better?

“He is a proven, postseason player. He is a clutch, proven winner, which is what this team doesn’t have any of.”
