C-Mac tells Yankee fans to calm down: 'The division is over'

Yankee fans are growing antsy, waiting for the team to clinch the division after two straight losses to the Orioles, who are still not mathematically eliminated from AL East contention.

But Chris McMonigle says fans need to calm down and have some perspective about how the Yanks looked heading into this series, and the circumstances surrounding Wednesday’s loss.

“Don’t panic! I don’t scare easy, and neither should you,” C-Mac said. “Calm yourselves. The division is over. The New York Yankees will be the American League East champions.

“These two nights, as uncomfortable as they were...the overreaction to these two games...they threw out a pitcher who they have no intention of pitching in the postseason. Who doesn’t have stuff that can be anywhere near the strike zone or else it gets pounded, who probably won’t be on the team next year.”

Because of Nestor Cortes’ flexor strain, the Yanks had to give the emergency start to Marcus Stroman, who was yanked from the starting rotation because of poor performance. So, C-Mac isn’t sweating Wednesday’s loss, and still believes that the Yanks winning the division is a foregone conclusion.

“They went into this series with a six-game lead. You know how they did it? They did it by winning,” C-Mac said. “They took this division by the horns...this Yankee team has had the best record in the American League since July 27...they went out there and played well enough for the last month plus and took this division by the horns...to make these games relatively meaningless when it comes to the standings.

“If you want to make these last two games an indictment on where this team is, where in one of those nights they sent out a starting pitcher who gave them no chance to win, then you do you.”
