C-Mac declared Thursday morning his lowest point as a Yankee fan ever, which spans back 30 years.
What’s worse, he doesn’t see a light at the end of the tunnel in terms of 2024 being any better.
“I don’t care who’s here,” C-Mac said. “What can be done with this team in the current state, that you think they can have a turnaround in one year? I don’t know if it’s possible, considering some of the contracts and some of the ways guys have fallen off over the last two years.
“I don’t know if it’s plausible that anything can be done.”
The Yankees have oft-injured, struggling veterans like Giancarlo Stanton and DJ LeMahieu under contract for years to come, while the farm system doesn’t hold many promising prospects on the cusp of the majors. Sal Licata has said on the air multiple times that the Yankees could be entering a “dark age,” and C-Mac doesn’t see many signs pointing to the contrary, with the only move right now being to wave the white flag on 2023 and play prospects to see who could help the team next year.
“Feeling hopeless about this team and about the future,” C-Mac said. “There’s nothing else to do but focus on next year and play people who might contribute.”
