C-Mac: Yankees are closer to World Series than you think

The Rangers, two years after a 100-loss season, and the Diamondbacks, an out-of-nowhere team that won less than 90 games this season, could be the two World Series teams with an Arizona win on Tuesday night.

C-Mac says that is all the evidence you need to realize that the Yankees aren’t as far off from being a World Series team as you think.

“Did the Arizona Diamondbacks [look like a World Series team] until they got to game seven of the NLCS?” C-Mac said. “Did the Rangers, when they were blowing a division and couldn’t hold on to a lead to save their lives?

“Teams that have made the World Series and went on to become World Series champions have looked just like the Yankees looked…the Diamondbacks are a win away from a World Series. Are the Arizona Diamondbacks far and away better than anything the Yankees have put on the field in the last five years?”

So, as the Yankees enter a period of transition after their worst season in 31 years, C-Mac says there shouldn’t be an assumption that the Bombers are far away from their ultimate goal, because the playoffs have shown that things can change in a hurry.

“When you lose and you underperform, it never looks good,” C-Mac said. “The Yankees have a lot to do to get better, but I’m just saying, the Diamondbacks are a win away from getting to the World Series. Are they that much better than the Yankees? It’s about playing well at the right time.

“I don’t subscribe to the fact that Aaron Boone can’t win and Brian Cashman can’t make the right decisions. I think they should both be gone…but if they’re not gone, I don’t think the Yankees are doomed. I don’t think they’re incapable of doing it better than they’ve done over the last few years.”
