C-Mac: Yankees have major problem with Anthony Rizzo
Anthony Rizzo booted a ground ball in the eighth inning on Tuesday night, leading to the eventual game-winning double by Taylor Ward to send the Yanks to a second straight loss.
C-Mac said it was the latest piece of evidence that the Yanks have a major problem in their veteran first baseman.
“He leans over and falls, and the ball is in his glove….and he can’t make the play,” C-Mac said. “Rizzo has been terrible this year. He’s 9-for-46 and slugging under .200 in that time. He had a brief week and a half where it looked like he was coming out of it, and he’s right back in it. And his defense has been awful.”
It doesn’t help that Rizzo has also been below league average at the plate this season, but the biggest problem is the defense, which was typically a big strength for Rizzo, and has now become a major concern.
“His defense was always great, and it’s been a huge negative,” C-Mac said. “He’s been a major negative for this team. Rizzo has been a problem.”
