Does the Yankees’ reported interested in Marcus Stroman mean the team is desperate for a consolation prize after missing out on Yoshinobu Yamamoto?
“Hell yeah it does, and it’s funny to me that anyone would have a problem with that,” C-Mac said. “This is an all-in offseason. They need a starting pitcher…the Yankees need to be desperate.”
C-Mac would be fine with the Yanks adding Stroman with one key caveat: that Stroman wouldn’t be the only, or the best, starting pitcher they add this offseason. But he believes that could be the case if the Yanks pull the trigger, and if they do, it wouldn’t be enough for what is supposed to be an all-in season.
“I don’t want him right now because I don’t know if they’re gonna get two pitchers, and he’s not good enough,” C-Mac said. “He’s not a No. 2. He’s a solid pitcher, he’s an innings eater…for the most part, I trust him. He’s an excellent third or fourth man. He would help the Yankees. If they trade for [Shane] Bieber and then sign him, then I’m all on board. If they trade for [Corbin] Burnes and sign him, I am all for it. If he is the second-best pitcher they add, I’m in.
“I’d rather overpay for [Blake] Snell than get Stroman on a good deal, because I am all in on 2024.”
