C-Mac had declared that the Yankees weren’t signing Blake Snell due to luxury tax penalties, but now that Gerrit Cole is out for at least 1-2 months, he says the Yanks have no choice but to pay up and get the reigning NL Cy Young winner.
“There’s one thing to do: spend money, and they have it. Go do it,” C-Mac said. “This changes things. I think they have to go out and get Blake Snell. I’m calling for it.
“Blake Snell is sitting there, and it’s just money.”
Whatever the Yankees would pay Snell, it would cost an additional 110 percent on the dollar due to the luxury tax penalties, but C-Mac says that can’t stop Hal Steinbrenner and company anymore. In an all-in year, it’s time to get a little reckless.
“You gotta go above and beyond if you lose your ace,” C-Mac said. “You just have to.”
