C-Mac: Yankees should be World Series contenders in 2024

C-Mac is admittedly “underwhelmed” with the Yankees offseason, but that doesn’t mean he is going into the 2024 season with low expectations.

Noting the myriad of bad injury luck the Yanks ran into in 2023, C-Mac says the 2024 squad, armed with the addition of Juan Soto, should be poised for a notable turnaround.

“The Yankees should be World Series contenders in my mind,” C-Mac said. “They’re getting a lot of flak, from me included…but let’s just ease up on the Orioles. They played really well last year. Are you telling me Gunnar Henderson is now gonna be unstoppable this year? Guys take steps back in their second year. Teams take steps back.

“They got demolished in the playoffs. They didn’t win a game.”

Meanwhile, the AL East as a whole isn’t scaring C-Mac, and he expects the Yanks to be battling the O’s for the division title all season long.

“I don’t think the Rays or Jays are that good,” C-Mac said. “Despite the fact they haven’t gone out and added that second ace, the Yankees have a middle of the lineup that is as good as any in baseball…I remember getting Juan Soto.

“This team won 82 games last year. The offense was putrid. It was all right handed and it sucked, and Judge was missing the entire year. A healthy Judge, adding Soto and Verdugo, that alone right there is going to put them upwards of 90 wins. And that isn’t even everything breaking right. That’s just a healthy Judge…that’s not even with a healthy Rodon, with Stroman, and with Cortes pitching better.”
