C-Mac believes the Mets will fall back into more of a stopgap season in 2024 if they can’t land Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but for the Yankees, he believes they are all in on next season regardless of where the Japanese star signs.
Even if the Yanks land Yamamoto, C-Mac says there are other big moves to be made, particularly when it comes to bolstering the starting rotation.
“I want Corbin Burnes, even if they get Yamamto,” C-Mac said. “If they can get Yamaoto and turn around and trade for Corbin Burnes, and trade a Peraza - I don’t want to trade Spencer Jones, their number one prospect, and I clearly don’t want to trade Jasson Dominguez - but besides that..I would trade Peraza, I would trade Everson Pereira, I would trade some of these other prospects to get Corbin Burnes, even if it is for one year.”
Burnes, a free agent after next season, could be traded by the Brewers this offseason, and C-Mac wants the Yanks to pounce on the 29-year-old righty with a devastating cutter.
“You go all in for 2024, then you figure it out,” C-Mac said. “Then you try to sign Juan Soto. Depending on the year Burnes had, you try to sign Burnes…then you play in next year’s pitching market.
“I have no problem with the Yankees going all in on one year.”
