C-Mac: Yankees will always be Aaron Judge's team, even if Juan Soto signs long-term deal
A caller wondered to C-Mac whether or not Juan Soto could have a desire to be the face of his own team, and if that could deter him from the Yankees given the presence of Aaron Judge.
C-Mac isn’t sure what Soto’s desire is in that regard, but he is certain that it would never be Soto’s team in the Bronx.
“Judge is special, and it will always be Judge’s team,” C-Mac said. “He’s the captain and the homegrown Yankee. I think the crowd adores him though. They’ve given him as much love as possible.
“If he wants it to be Juan Soto’s team, it will never be with the Yankees. It’s Aaron Judge’s team.”
Judge was overshadowed by Soto to begin the season, as Soto was the new star in town and playing like one from his heroics on Opening Day, while Judge labored through a rough April. But Judge has been on a relentless tear ever since, catapulting himself to the top of the leaderboards in nearly every offensive category, and reminding fans of the level of his star power.
“Judge is the better player…Judge is clearly the better player and the more important player, and it will always be his team,” C-Mac said. “He’s the captain of the team…I don’t know if that plays a role in it or not.”
