It’s round two of the Carton & Roberts Two-Question Interview, and this time, Loogy didn’t have to mine the Rolodex too hard and didn’t find an announcer; instead, he got a playoff hero for two franchises: JOHNNY DAMON!

If you’re not familiar with the first two segments, here’s a breakdown: producer Tommy Lugauer books a guest, and they get two questions: one from Craig, and one from Evan, who flips a coin to see which host goes first: heads for Carton, tails for Roberts.

On Tuesday’s final show before the New Year, Craiggy won the coin flip for the second straight day, so it’s him first, Evan second…two questions, one “idiot” on the horn!

CRAIG asks: October 20, 2004, second inning grand slam against the Yankees. Walk me through it, and tell me what was going on inside your head as the ball cleared the fence, and you’re rounding the bases knowing you’ve effectively completed the greatest comeback in baseball history?

Damon: “Definitely a very exciting moment for myself and the Red Sox fans. It was 86 years. What was going through my head is that the game is not over yet, because we remember what happened the year before. If you replay the highlights, I wasn’t smiling, it was business as usual. When I stepped to the plate, I wanted to make sure we got at least one run, because the Yankees are always in ballgames.”

EVAN asks: What was your most satisfying moment in the major leagues?

Damon: “That’s gotta be it – I wasn’t hitting the entire World Series, and I was working hard figuring it out. I know when I am locked in, and I just get out of the cages and conserve my energy. I worked very hard to that point, because I was scuffling. I knew they were going to try to get a first-pitch strike, I got jammed a bit, but thank the Good Lord I have strength and was able to get it out to right field.”
