Clint Frazier was removed from Wednesday night’s game against the Angels due to vertigo, which caused the outfielder to be placed on the IL, and manager Aaron Boone said that Frazier is continuing to undergo testing.
“He will continue with tests next week,” Boone said before Saturday’s game against the Mets. “The preliminary tests he’s gone through the last couple of days, trying to rule out or find more serious things, have turned up all normal, which is obviously good news. But I know he will continue to be evaluated and go through some more rounds of testing early next week.”
Frazier’s symptoms could be particularly worrisome given his extended battle with symptoms after suffering a concussion in 2018, which he said lasted through the 2019 season. But Boone said initial tests don’t indicate that it would be related to a concussion.
“We don’t believe it’s that, and that’s what a lot of this stuff has hopefully ruled out, but I’d rather complete the continuation of testing early next week to be sure,” Boone said.
Frazier has struggled all season, slashing .186/.317/.317 after posting an OPS over .900 last year, but has been mainly healthy through 66 games. Now the Yankees will await the results of the next round of testing and hope Frazier’s symptoms won’t linger long term like they did two years ago.
“I think he’s doing OK,” Boone said. “I haven’t spoken to him in the last 24 hours as he’s going through these tests. I’ve just been getting the reports on it. I think he’s doing OK and fairly stable.”
