Many Yankee fans have been critical of Aaron Boone over the years, and that hasn’t stopped in 2023, especially with the .500 Bombers losing a deflating game on Monday night after Boone took out a cruising Domingo German in the ninth inning.
But Craig is going drastically in the other direction.
“The New York Yankees are .500. That might be the greatest managerial job in the history of baseball,” Craig said. “Everyone yells and screams that Boone sucks and Cashman has to go…but the Yankees have lost half their roster to injuries already this year, and somehow, some way, the brilliance of Aaron Boone has kept them at .500. I think you have to give him a plaque for Manager of the Month.”
Boone has brilliantly navigated an injury-riddled season before, guiding the Yanks to 103 wins in 2019, and Craig says he is orchestrating another masterclass in crisis management this season.
“He’s kept it together,” Craig said. “He hasn’t lost the locker room, and every night, even when they lose 15-2, they go out there and bust their ass for Aaron Boone…and the fact that they are still .500 tells you that when they get everybody back, they are an unbeatable force.”
