Craig Carton opened Friday’s show with an idea, one he claimed to be one of his best yet.
Turns out, after he revealed it to Evan Roberts, his co-host agreed with him.
“I thought about it a lot, and you can’t even poke a hole in it,” Craig said. “The New York Yankees should offer every fan who attended last night’s game a ticket to another game.”
That’s right, after falling behind 9-0 in the top of the first inning before an eventual 11-2 loss in the Bronx on Thursday night, Craig wants to see the Yankees step up and offer a ticket to another game for the fans that suffered through a blowout loss that was over before many of those fans even settled in to their seats.
“I want to be clear: every team suffers a game like the Yankees suffered last night,” Craig said. “But I think this is a great opportunity for the Yankees again to set themselves apart from everybody else, because nobody else would do it.
“You make the simple announcement: ‘Hey, we know we stunk last night, give us another chance to get it right. If you can show us the receipt that you went, we will give you a ticket to a future game.’”
Evan has heard several of Craig’s big ideas, some better than others, but he is fully on board with this one.
“Yankee Stadium security is kind of a pain…and they’re all doing their job, I’m not complaining,” Evan said. “But some fans don’t get into their seats until 15 minutes after first pitch. If you did that last night and sat down in your seat, the game was over. I think that’s a great idea and I agree with you.”
