The 2021 Yankees are giving new meaning to the term “Baby Bombers.”
After Rougned Odor was placed on the paternity list last week so he and his wife could welcome in their baby girl, DJ LeMahieu was left out of Tuesday’s lineup while he and his wife Jordan welcome in a baby of their own.
And once LeMahieu returns, it will be another Yankee’s turn, as Luke Voit and his wife Tori are scheduled to have their baby on Friday.
“It’s really exciting,” Voit said. “We actually almost had it on Sunday. We had a little emergency thing where we went to the hospital Sunday morning, but it was all good, we didn’t have it or anything.”
Voit is in the Yankee lineup on Tuesday, but things could change is his wife gives birth before Friday, but when she does, it will mark three Yankees adding to their families in the span of two weeks.
“The plan is to induce Friday morning,” Voit said. “So it’s super exciting. Still don’t know if it’s a boy or girl, which makes the anticipation even crazier, but I can’t wait to meet my son or daughter.”
With much more important commitments on deck, Voit will likely miss this weekend’s series against the Tigers if his baby is indeed born on Friday.
“She could have it today or tomorrow,” Voit said. “It just depends. But as of right now I’d probably miss the trip to Detroit.”
Now the wait begins to see which Yankee becomes a dad next.
